This is an estimate based on a simplified lap allowance and doesn't replace a proper engineering check. Please confirm quantities before ordering, especially for structural pours.
Enter your dimensions or area above to see how many sheets you'll need.
Enter your slab size and pick your mesh. Our reinforcing mesh calculator works out how many sheets you need, shows the live price from our Auckland yard, and lets you add the lot to your cart in one click. It’s free, there’s nothing to sign up for, and it takes about ten seconds.
Quality Steel Supplies is an Auckland reinforcing steel supplier. All our mesh is certified to AS/NZS 4671, and we deliver across Auckland Monday to Saturday or you can collect from our Penrose and East Tamaki yards.

How to calculate sheets of reinforcing mesh needed?
The calculator divides your slab area by the usable coverage of one sheet, then rounds up to a whole sheet. Usable coverage is the sheet’s full area minus the overlap where sheets lap, so a 668 sheet that measures 4.51 x 1.96 m covers 7.53 m² once lapped.
- Enter your slab length and width, or switch to total m² if you already know the area.
- Choose your mesh type.
- Check the sheet count, adjust the quantity if your plans call for extra, and add it to your cart.
The result is an area-based estimate. Sheets are cut on site to fit the slab shape, so the real number depends on your layout, penetrations and edge details. Confirm it against your engineer’s plans or your building consent drawings before you order, and call us on 0800 744 78335 if you want a second opinion.

Reinforcing Mesh FAQ
Divide your slab area by the usable coverage of one sheet and round up. A 50 m² slab needs 7 sheets of 668 mesh, which covers 7.53 m² per sheet once lapped. Our calculator does the sum for you and shows the live price.
Sheets lap where they meet, so each one covers less than its full size. A 668 sheet is 8.84 m² but covers 7.53 m² once lapped. The calculator builds this in, and your engineer’s plans give the lap length your slab requires.
It depends on your slab’s design, which your engineer or building consent plans specify. We stock 661, 663, 665 and 668 mesh and the SE62, SE72, SE82 and SE92 Grade 500E range. If the plans aren’t clear, call us on 0800 744 78335 and we’ll help you match the designation.
Yes. We deliver across Auckland Monday to Saturday by Hiab truck. You can also collect from our Penrose or East Tamaki yards.
Yes. The calculator pulls the live price for each mesh from our online store, so what you see is what goes in your cart.
Most slabs do. Bar chairs hold the mesh at the right height inside the concrete so it ends up at the specified cover. The height you need depends on your slab depth, so check your plans or ask us.
It works from area, so it’s an estimate. Sheets are cut on site, and your layout, penetrations and edges can change the real number. Check the total against your plans before ordering.
